We welcome new residents on a regular basis at the Rescue Centre and therefore this page will be continually updated.
On arrival in the UK, the elephants are taken to the Reception Centre. It is here that they gradually adapt to UK life, embrace the Rescue Centre ethos and begin to make friends with other new arrivals. We feel that this first intermediary step is very important, making the transition to the Rescue Centre less of an ordeal, as they will already have a friend and know what to expect.
After a few weeks and when we feel the new arrivals are ready, they are moved to the Rescue Centre. At the Rescue Centre we encourage the individuality of each elephant. Whilst some elephants prefer to stay in their own outfits, others who arrive partially dressed prefer a new set of clothes. New clothes can allow the real personality of the elephant to shine through and make for a much happier elephant!
